Privacy Policy
This page explains what information Bee Duels collects, why, and how you can control it. We keep it short and we keep it honest.
Who we are

How you sign in
Bee Duels uses email and password authentication (via Supabase). You create an account with your email address and a password, and you can reset your password by email if you forget it.
What we collect
To run Bee Duels, we store:
- Your email address — used to sign you in, recover your account, and send account-related notices.
- Your handle — the @username you choose to appear to other players.
- Game data — the challenges you send and receive, your scores, streaks, leaderboard standing, and your friend and rival connections.
- Your device's timezone — a standard IANA timezone identifier (for example, "America/Chicago"), used to reset daily limits at your local midnight.
- Push notification tokens — a device identifier used to deliver notifications about challenges and game activity. This feature is planned but not yet active; when it launches, tokens are only collected if you allow notifications.
We do not ask for your real name, your address, or any payment information.
Microphone and speech recognition
Bee Duels uses your device's microphone and on-device speech recognition to let you spell words out loud. This processing happens entirely on your device using your operating system's built-in speech recognition. Bee Duels does not record, store, or transmit your audio. Only the recognized text of what you spelled is used to check your answer.
No ads, no tracking, no analytics
Bee Duels does not display ads, does not include third-party tracking or advertising SDKs, and does not use analytics SDKs. We do not sell your data to anyone, for any purpose.
In-app purchases
Bee Duels may offer optional in-app purchases in the future, such as additional word packs. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store — we do not receive or store your payment information.
Where your data lives
Your account and game data are hosted on Supabase. This website and Bee Duels's supporting infrastructure run on Cloudflare.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. The only parties that touch your data are the service providers that keep Bee Duels running, such as Supabase (database and authentication) and Apple (for push notifications and in-app purchases, once those features are active).
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the app at any time (see below), or you can email us to make any of these requests and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Deleting your account
You control your data. You can permanently delete your account from within the app's settings. This removes your profile, game history, and connections, and cannot be undone — take your time before you confirm.
Children
Bee Duels is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we make changes that matter, we will update this page and change the effective date above.
